Aerotex Aviation is pleased to announce AeroCamp to West Texas. We are proud to host AeroCamp for kids of the Permian Basin.
Campers are referred to as AeroCamp Cadets. The cadets will learn firsthand about the dynamics of airplanes and flight, and about the broad spectrum of careers in the aviation and aerospace industry. We give every cadet the opportunity to actually fly an aircraft if they choose to. However, flight time is only a fraction of the AeroCamp experience and is not required to have a great learning adventure. AeroCamp also includes site visits to various aviation-related organizations and local airports.
Camp generally runs for a period of five days during the summer and select seasonal dates. Contact us for the exact dates, times and pricing. Activities, tours, flights and field trips will vary for each camp depending on weather and availability of tours.
*Our AeroCamp satisfies the requirements for the Boy Scout Aviation Merit Badge.
There are two AeroCamp level experiences- AC Bravo and AC Alpha. Attend one or both! Depending on demand, we may merge levels into a single program.
Included with the registration fee, cadets will receive a logbook, first flight certificate, AeroCamp tee-shirt, a 6-month subscription to AOPA's Flight Training Magazine, an AeroCamp graduation certificate, and a $50.00 gift certificate off a future introductory discovery flight lesson with our academy. Snacks, juice, and water will be provided daily as well as a cookout lunch on graduation day. Cadets are asked to bring their own lunch on the remaining days.
*ATA-101 is an Advanced Flight Training Academy for "seasoned" cadets of AeroCamp. This is open by application only to campers who have taken a minimum of two camps (at least one Alpha,) and/ or have about 5-hours of flight time. This is NOT a camp option, as it is not a camp and does not include tours or speakers.
It is a more intense training program with a minimum of 2-hours of ground school daily, one hour flight, one hour observation, and 30-minutes simulator time daily for students who have an interest in pursuing flight training. As we do not begin at lesson ONE, advanced knowledge is necessary and an admissions test will be given as part of the application. A textbook is issued and assignments will be given prior to the first date of the academy. Currently taking reservations for Fall 2021 mini-session.
